Once I had decided the text I wanted for my poster I then started to write the title on ‘Lost in Wonderland’ onto the background. I originally wanted the ‘Lost’ to be in red so that it stood out and I placed the ‘lost’ letters separate and on and in between trees to like they are lost in the woods representing the girl in our film how not only gets lost in the woods but in her mind and this imaginary made up world.

I then added the ‘IN’ and ‘Wonderland’ too my poster and I placed the ‘IN’ under the ‘Lost’ text. I made the ‘IN’ white and not red because I wanted the ‘lost’ to stand out to the audience as it’s the main feature throughout our film.
For the ‘Wonderland’ text I didn’t really know where to place it, so I played around on Photoshop and I placed the text around the hand echoing their shape which I really didn’t like so I then decided to place it above the fingers and slightly over them in a straight line to contrast against the wonky ‘Lost’ text and also to make it look as if the hands are fading away into wonderland like how Alice the main character in our film is fading away from reality and into insanity.

To make the ‘Wonderland’ stand out I edited the text to add a shadow to the words so that they wouldn’t be lost in the white parts of the background. I also decided that I wasn’t sure if I wanted the ‘Lost’ to be red so I turned it white and then I turned the ‘IN’ red. I was considering doing it all red or all white in the end I went for the white because I think it looks cleaner and more professional and I didn’t want to give the wrong impression with the red text as it can be linked with blood and murder which does not occur in our film. I used the white text because it’s plain and simple and it doesn’t give anything away as to what wonderland is about and is left up to the viewer’s imagination to figure it out and coax them in to watch the film.

I then added the slogan / tagline for the film under the ‘Wonderland’ which is ‘Trapped in the life you escaped to’ I made this my tagline for the film as its confuses the audience and makes them wonder what the film is about and draws them in to watch it, I also wrote this one because it tells us the ending of the film which we won’t understand until you watch the film making the two link back to each other and the audience having sense of knowing after the film and they can look back and understand the poster.

Next thing I did was to add the comments from news papers and film critics they are placed at the top left of the poster out of the way not to distract from the image. ‘This new psychological fantasy thriller is a must see film this year’ was a comment I made from Rotten Tomatoes giving a five star rating which I added a gold glow to the stars to grab your attention. The next one is ‘This film will have you looking over your shoulder for days, well worth its five star rating’ this comments backs up the five stars and boost the audience into watching the film and it also hints as to its genre and that our goal was hit of thrilling people.

The last things added to the poster are the actor’s names and everyone involved which is written in small at the bottom and a 12 rating on the bottom right corner.

Overall I am very pleased with my film poster and all the planning I put in really paid off I think it’s an enticing poster that draws in the audiences and encourages them to watch our film.

Adding text

text

I need to add the text to my poster now and here on photoshop I selected some fonts that I liked and thought would suit the poster and I wrote the title of the film out in each one to decide what font I would like on the poster.
I decided to use perpetua tilting MT as the font for my poster.

Hand to my poster

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Here I have added the hands to my poster. I got the hands photographs from the tea party footage I took a screen shot. The hand symbolise slice I wonderland and how she is looking down at herself in wonder and the world around her.
I cut around the hands because I wanted to place them onto the tree background to do this I used the magnetic lasso tool on Photoshop. I was going to place this on the woods background straight away but it looked too choppy so I then used the smudge tool to smooth down the edges of the hands that I cut out then I dragged it over to the trees.
I then placed both hands on the poster and I wasn’t sure if I liked them how they were so I decided to play around on Photoshop to see if I would prefer them in black and white. So I used the black and white tool to make the hands gray. I soon decided that I didn’t like this because I wanted the hands to stand out, so I thought I could partly turn them grey to look like she is being engulfed in this wonderland that she created and the grey would symbolise this. To do this I used the magic selection wand tool to grab parts of the hand and then turn the black and white, I played around with the darkness of the hands but I soon decided that I preferred them all in colour because they stand out more against the tree background.

Poster Sketch

poster 001

This is a drawing I did of how i would like my poster to look for our five minute film. The hands will come from the tea party footage of the girl looking at herself in wonder and the forest background will come from the woods footage.
I would like to have ‘Lost In Wonderland’ written within the trees to look as it the letters are lost in the woods like the main character was lost in the woods in our film.

Poster Research

olly-moss-posters

Here I have some film posters by Olly Moss who is a graphic designer. I am in love with his style of film posters because they are so clever and attractive to the viewer. I would like to base my poster on his work especially the hand and trees poster. ~I would like to create a darker poster to resemble the thriller which my film is and I want to included hands to show ‘Alice ‘looking at herself in wonder and the trees inside the hand I like the idea of but I don’t want to copy Olly Moss completely so I shall have the woods as a background silhouetted like in Moss’s poster.

Lost In Wonderland

This is my finished Media film that I made and edited with ALeks Nibizs. We finished off the editing for our film using Windows Movie Maker after we started to use Premier Pro. We used Movie Maker to add the music to the beginning of our film and we also added the title ‘Lost in Wonderland’ and the credits to the ending of our film. Overall I am very happy with our Media movie production and the filming and editing process, I think that we made a successful film that explored the world of mental illness form a more personal level form a girls point of view.
